What a wonderful thing to be able to speak with students all over the world. It’s great to read about other cultures and different people, but they often still seem so distant and separate. A school in Karahi Pakistan is hoping to bring students and teachers around the world together through their Global Classroom Project.
The Global Classroom project, run by Mr Sohaib Hasan Shah, is trying to put an end to that, and show that people have more similarities than differences all over the world. Our clothes, food and dress might be different, but we want and like the same things, and this is such an important message to share with students and teachers alike.
I had the privilege to be in the same room as students a half a world away in Pakistan while sitting in my own living room. The students were enthusiastic and clever. We had a wonderful time speaking and getting to know each other. We spoke about Canada and hobbies, video games and art. They are a wonderful group of students and I hope to have the chance to speak with them again.
If you’re interested in knowing more about this program you can find information about it and the school on their Facebook page, Brilliant Career School. I hope you check it out and send them a message letting them know what a wonderful job their doing.
The way we learn
Times are changing. Things aren’t like they were before, when you went to the library and took out an English language learning book complete with cd (or cassette, depending on how far back we’re going). Now you have so many resources, right at your fingertips, and that can be overwhelming. What is the best material? Is what you’re learning correct? How can you practice?
This doesn’t just apply to language learning, so many educational institutes are putting more and more resources and opportunities for learning online. You can now take full certificate courses in subjects like business, marketing, design, and of course, lanuages.
The advantages of learning a language online with a private tutor are huge. The most important being that you can learn on your own schedule, rather than finding a class that fits into your day, or learning on your own. Everyone can decide on a schedule that works best for everyone.
Secondly, you can offer a lot of private attention. Your needs are directly addressed preventing frustration by a class that moves too fast or too slow for your skills.
Most importantly, you can make a new friend who will help you build confidence in yourself as you master pronunciation and conversation skills. Our programs at Kings English do just that, we’re a family here and we love to meet new people from around the world and bring them together using language.
