This course has been designed to take you from TEFL certification to the classroom.

Many TEFL courses teach you the basics of language instruction, but many people still feel ill-prepared for the classroom experience. It’s common among new teachers. These courses teach you the basics of teaching a language, but not theory or practical use.

They don’t even prepare you for working in a new country, a new school system, or a new environment. The first day of classes can be overwhelming. Technical knowledge isn’t helpful in real-life settings.

That’s why I created this course. To help prepare you for what lies ahead, support you in your career, and get you closer to success.

What you’ll learn

I’ll cover 5 main topics in this course. We’ll start with lesson planning. I’ll show you how to use your environment and resources to make effective and engaging lessons. You’ll learn how to plan your lessons to get real results for your students, no matter their age or level.

Next, we’ll look at resources and curriculum. Often, teachers are thrust into a classroom with few to no resources. I’ll show you how to develop your own program and resources.

In module 3, you’ll learn a few different teaching strategies, and who they are best suited for. Knowing how to engage your students is important for success. Both yours and your students.

After that, we’ll talk about how to teach beginners effectively. Even if you don’t speak the student’s first language. There are a few tricks I’ll show you to help make your first classes with beginner students run smoothly and stress-free.

Finally, in module 5 I’ll show you how to make teaching English a freelance career. Both online and in person. I have been teaching freelance for more than a decade now, so I have some great tips to share. You’ll learn how to get started, how and where to find students, diversifying your income, and optimising your clients.

As a bonus, I’m going to include a few tricks I learned to make things not only easier, but to get the most out of your career and your life. I’m talking about the reason why most of us get into ESL teaching in the first place, travel, and culture. I’ll show you how to experience the most out of the culture you’re in, how to set healthy boundaries for yourself, and how to navigate a new and unfamiliar work environment.
